I watched this movie, not sure how, when I was a wee one. I think it might have been on USA or something. It's set (and I think made?) in Australia, so it's not what you're used to seeing in a cartoon. But that's what makes it great. The characters are all animated, but the backgrounds are all real life. There isn't any of the typical slap-stick, slightly off colour joking like kids movies these days. It is just interesting in and of itself. Good story about overcoming, friendship, accepting other's differences and appreciating nature. The music is melodic, beautiful and peaceful, and the characters aren't perfect, all having their faults and eccentricities. I rented it for my 4 year old to share with him what I consider one of my favorite childhood movies. He was enthralled. Helps if your kid loves animals. Highly recommended. Give it a try, but remember, it probably won't be what you're used to seeing.

I remembered a "Dot" movie from my childhood, but this one was not it. I can see how this one would be great for kids. Weird for an adult, though.

Great for the kiddies. Good moral stuff, not like the computer cartoons of today.-Stone
