The first part of this movie was delightful! This story line was captivating and fun. Jurgen Prochnow did an exceptional job in his role as the commandant. (It was nice to see him in a kinder, gentler role). Part 2 should have been shortened or eliminated; it belabored family dysfunction and took away from the upbeat, whimsical feel of the movie.

I saw this movie on TV when it aired! If you love Danielle Steele, romance and jewelry this is it! This rental does not show all of it. It is missing the second half. Be sure Jewel, Part 2 is available first before getting Part 1. Loved the movie just wished I could have seen it all!
