Clueless (1995)

Clueless (1995)
Member Rating:
Jane Austen might never have imagined that her 1816 novel Emma could be turned into a fresh and satirical look at ultra-rich teenagers in a Beverly Hills high school. Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Dionne (Stacey Dash), both named after "great singers of the past that now do infomercials," are pampered upper-class girls who care less about getting good grades than wearing the right clothes and being as popular as possible. But Cher, who lives with her tough yet warm-hearted lawyer dad (Dan Hedaya) and hunky, sensitive stepbrother (Paul Rudd), also has an innate urge to help those less fortunate -- like the two introverted teachers she brings together ("negotiating" herself improved grades in the process) and new friend Tai (Brittany Murphy), who starts out a geek and ends up a Cher prodigy. Cher also possesses her own sensitive side, and she is looking for the perfect boyfriend, whom she ends up finding where she least expected. ~ Don Kaye, Rovi

The first time, I saw this on the shelf at a local video store; I passed it up because the cover didn't seem to me that the movie would be any good. I read the plot online and decided to give it a chance and this movie is the funniest movie that I seen all year! I find that movies are better when your not expecting much. I love the plot, characters, it was a great romantic comedy. I haven't laugh this much in years!

Clueless is my all time favorite movie. The humor is subtle so you have to watch it with the right mindset to understand the movie. This edition has all the extra's and is very entertaining if you are a fan.

Anyone who didn't like this movie, simply did not get it. This movie is a updated remake of the Jane Austen novel, Emma, my favorite novel of all time. I love this movie, when I was a kid, any time I needed a pick me up, I watched this movie. Even though I knew what would happen, there are enough original details to keep the story fresh and new. Alicia Silverstone and Brittany Murphy are awesome in the teenage classic. People who would not like this movie: crotchety old men, action-junkie teenage boys, anyone who hates Jane Austen, and anyone who hates romance.
