Piranha II: The Spawning (1981)

Piranha II: The Spawning (1981)
Member Rating:
This poorly scripted horror film about miniature, finny "jaws" details the mating rituals of the fictional "grunion" fish (falsely introduced as "piranhas" for more box-office recognition) and their need to attack and kill humans -- either inside or outside the water. These saber-toothed wonders have been hatched from a canister of eggs on a sunken ship in front of a posh Club Med resort, which features the mating rituals of humans who at times need to attack and kill fish. The product of a series of secret genetic engineering experiments, the toothy fish are to be tracked down by an undercover biochemist (Steve Marachuk), who is soon joined by the resident scuba diver at the resort (Tricia O'Neil). With believable gore but second-rate special effects, this film in no way presages the coming success of its debut director, James Cameron. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

So cheesy its good but only if you like cheesy low budget movies. People who are thinking about renting this movie just on the fact that it was directed by James Cameron I am warning you hit the back button on your web browser this instant! You will hate it. If you are the kind of person who is reading this review to find out if this movie is cheesy than you have hit the jackpot of Cheese what could be cheesier than flying piranhas its like flying Cheese. Have you ever seen one of the commercials saying to eat 3 servings of dairy each day well if movie cheese counted as dairy cheese this would be all the cheese you need for the week. Deciding if you want to rent this movie is as simple as a Yes or No question. Do you like low budget movie cheese? If you answered yes than add this movie to your Q. If you answered no then I dont know why you read through this whole review talking about cheese.

This movie is atrociously bad, but it is absolute delight because of it. What's not to love about piranhas that fly out of the ocean to bite people in the neck. Combine that with some awesome polyester outfits and you've got yourself a winner!
