A Night to Dismember (1983)
Member Rating:
As Detective O'Malley (played by an uncredited actor, lucky guy) tells it, the entire Kent clan is slayed one at a time by a hatchet-wielding maniac that may be Vicki Kent (Samantha Fox). Vicki is back after having spent time in an insane asylum for murder, so it wasn't a very good idea for her brother Billy (Bill Szarka) and sister Mary (Diane Cummins) to try to drive her crazy so she'd be returned to the institution. As O'Malley follows the trail of bodies, he comes to believe that perhaps Vicki isn't the murderer after all. ~ Buzz McClain, Rovi

Well, it's different, I'll give it that. 1983? Seems more like 1963. Entire movie is narrated, and tries to be, I dunno, artsy I guess with some really choppy editing which actually ends up just making it annoying. Some parts they'll show some decent gore, and others it's almost like watching a murder in a play. I wonder if this was Doris Wishman's college project.

According to Doris Wishman, the movie lab that was processing the negatives went bankrupt during production of this movie, and a disgruntled employee destroyed many of the negatives -- including the one for this movie. A Night to Dismember is made up of the bits and pieces of film that were left, and boy, does it look it. I had to stop knitting and start taking notes because I was so dreadfully confused. This wasn't worth making into a DVD -- perhaps Doris Wishman was a major subversive filmmaker at one time, but middle-school students could make something better than this.
