Code of Honor (1987)
Member Rating:
The ganglord Ho has many loyal followers, thanks to his skill in showering his troops with praise and tangible thanks, giving them much honor in the process. However, in this violent movie, three of his senior associates have been picked up by the police on serious charges, and it is beginning to look as though his trust was misplaced, for they are planning on selling what they know about him for lighter sentences. Regretfully, Ho orders another associate, his most trusted henchman and bodyguard, to see to it that the three men die. At their funerals, he is genuinely bereaved -- both for his now departed men, and for the code of trust which they took with them to their graves. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

And that's a good thing for those of you who are a fan of energetic pacing, brutality, and 80s-era Chinese character actors. One note--Chow Yun Fat plays a supporting character role, though he does prove to be a crucial catalyst in the plot.

Now this is what a Triad movie is all about! A Triad godfather tries to permanently leave the underground society to start a better life with his estranged son who is ashamed of his criminal lifestyle. But when a vengeful cop enters the picture, things get complicated and the godfather may or may not succeed in keeping his promise to his son... A fantastic film filled with brutal fights and shootings and a theme about what happens when you're 'in too deep'...
