Parts: The Clonus Horror (1979)
Member Rating:
This routine, relatively low-budget horror film with a few well-known actors (Peter Graves, Keenan Wynn) unfolds a tale that has echoes in George Orwell's 1984 or in various sci-fi movies. The premise: Americans have not realized that their government is in cahoots with certain industrial and medical giants to clone the citizens and thereby create a society that is easily controlled. Richard, one of the clones (Tim Donnelly) slowly comes to believe that the normal human society is much better than the cloned version and starts a rebellion against the powerful forces in control. What happens after that is about as hard to believe as what has happened before. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

I enjoyed this flick. Apparently, The Island ripped off this movie and another called THX. I haven't seen THX yet, but it's very obvious that much was stolen from this one. I actually liked this better than The Island, but if you have no tolerance for 70's flicks then you should probably move on.

This movie is a 70s slow paced -predictable plot -low budget type sci-fi movie similiar to the modern "The Island" but on a much, much, much lesser and lower scale. Be warned that this movie is not very exciting or an on-the-edge-of-your-seat type of movie that is comparable to modern standards and film technology. However, for movie lovers of classic genre's this movie has appealing elements. Watching this movie, you appreciate the effort the directors put to film what they thought would be a good flim with the limited technology, fim quality, and lower budget. In it's time, this movie was probably a good movie. Because I am a nostalgic of the past, I felt the movie had that old 60s 70s charm that few movies today can replicate. With its few entertaining elements and an appreciation for old movies, I felt the movie was okay to watch.

This movie provides the perfect fodder for the hate'm or love'm MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000. I do own the MST3K version of this film. It IS THE ONLY WAY a person can watch this movie and actually enjoy it. From the doctor that looks like Super Mario to a grown man wondering what a can is, this movie is ripe for the "picking on."
