Shades of freshman-year Western Civ class! I loved that long-ago course, but it did shock me when we studied the Borgias of Renaissance Italy. Rodrigo Borgia was the Pope, and he contended with restless cardinals and scheming monarchs, plus his children and mistresses. In church history he's known as Pope Alexander VI. "The Borgias" contains lots of blood and gore, but the costumes and sets are great, and so is Jeremy Irons as the Pope. See it if you dare...
