The Big Bounce (1969)
Member Rating:
Jack Ryan (Ryan O'Neal) is a cucumber picker who is fired after a fight with a Mexican-American (Victor Paul) co-worker. He finds work on a ranch owned by Ray Ritchie (James Daly). Soon his private secretary Nancy (Leigh Taylor-Young) is after Jack. She spends her free time in pursuit of hedonism and reckless pleasure by fornicating on tombstones and breaking hearts as well as windows. Sam Mirakian (Van Heflin) is the motel owner whose lonely resident (Lee Grant) makes a play for Jack. She ends up killing herself and Nancy ends up killing someone else for sheer pleasure. This forgettable and pointless movie -- one critic described it as "a rancid piece of trash" -- is O'Neal's big-screen debut. Some nudity required an "R" rating. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

The typical late 60's movie, lil story line, lil sex and alot of music as the characters walked round for filler. Fairly predictable story line with some nice California scenery. Was enough Taylor-Young nude scences to keep you wondering if there was going to be more. Not a great movie but seen worse from that era, if 102 minutes of your life can be spared its worth a look at a 60's B movie.

I had to watch the film twice to fully appreciate it, and I liked it better the second time that I watched it. Ryan O'Neal is young, handsome and usually shirtless in it. If you're a fan of his, you have to see it, because it was his movie debut. He shares the screen with his second wife, Leigh Taylor-Young, but this is no love story. Nancy (Leigh Taylor-Young) is a heartless thrill seeker. Jack Ryan (Ryan O'Neal) goes along with it until Nancy's thrill-seeking turns to serious crime. The movie is set to a Beach-Boys-style sound mix. You can imagine it to be the soundtrack that is playing in Nancy's head as she seeks her thrills, but later the music seems to be mocking her as reality overrides the so-called fun. (This film contains some nudity.)
