I am giving this four stars, but could understand if people mark it slightly less or more. You do get into it. Ryan Gosling is a star of his generation and he steals this film. HIs fall is gut wrenching, but all of them fall. Clooney, Giamatti, and Hoffman all shine here as well. Just a great cast, but they stretch things here. The characters you want to take a stand don't. The film doesn't take a side. It leaves it to the audience. My favorite scene is Molly and Stephen at the clinic. His moment to shine and I won't give away what he does. My wife enjoyed it more than I, and we were reminded how there always seems to be something just wrong with the political process. Human decency just seems something you need to fight for. This film doesn't bring anything new, but the cynacle viewpoints are strong punch lines. It wasn't more or less about the revelation, but what you do with it. I saw it in the theaters, I would rent it as well.

A political movie definately showing George Clooneys interests and talents. Filled with an excellent cast, but the movie does take a while to set up. However, then the direction moves through the political scene, showing how easily corruption slips in. Very entertaining and expertly done....

This film has the perfect ingredients to be selected for Oscar Nominations. Story line, screen play, Direction and acting are in perfect harmony and balance. None of the main actors go out of character. The performance of Clooney, Hoffman, Gosling, Giamatti and Tomei are top of the line. This is a Smart movie for a smart audience.
