Love this series! The acting is terrific and the plots are engrossing. My only frustration is that I seem to have received series one and two in exactly reverse order...watching the last episode first and so on. I'm just catching the correct order now with three more to view - the first three episodes in the series. If you want to follow the story as it develops, ck online for the correct order (Wikipedia has a list).
"The Suitable Vengeance" episode was a well done production shot at a great location and English Manor Home fit for an Agatha Christie story. The story was a family tragedy that certainly leaves the viewer a bit bummed out after seeing it but you do feel sympathy for the main character, Inspector Lynley (Nathaniel Parker) The story was a bit slow to get started and the characters were not as well connected story-wise as they really should have been. It took the viewer some time to catch on to exactly who is who and what their relationship is to each other as a tighter script would have delivered earlier on in the episode. But hey, how many Agatha Christies, Ngaio Marsh and Dorothy Sayers are writing today?... A good BBC mystery series still. I gather that Elizabeth George worte all of the stories in this set and some are stronger than others but they are all good and enjoyably watchable. My Grade Range: B+ to C+ Marc L. Seattle WA
