This is a well made classic. Starring two of America's finest actors and actress Ruby Dee. The movie told a plausible and believeable story as it could have happened just after the freeing of the slaves in the late 1800's. I liked everything about this movie. I have seen it a hundred times and I enjoy it each and every time like it was my first. I highly recommend this movie to real movie lovers. No explicit language anywhere to be found in this flick thats a plus also.

Overall not a bad movie. Sidney Poitier was a bit of a let down as he wasn't featured as prominently and it isn't really an "acting" film The story was a bit predictable and the editing (especially the sound) was a bit uneven.

Great movie of an untold american story. After reading Harry Belafonte's autobiograph, I have a greater appreciation for the sacrafices that went into making this movie.
