A haunting portrait of patriarchal violence and repressed childhood rage, resulting in a mystery that is never fully solved. Calmly paced, but riveting. For serious movie watchers who don't mind subtitles.

This movie requires you actively be engaged with it while viewing. It demands your thought. The director leaves a lot of questions on the table, and the movie provokes discussion after watching. "Cache" is from the same director, and a movie I'd highly recommend.

Chilling, fascinating film. It's narrated by the Schoolteacher (we never learn the name of this decent man) who seeks the truth about the violence that is unfolding. Chief among the sinister characters is the Pastor, whose face is like a hatchet and whose hands are quick to inflict beatings. While it's a long film with no answers, I must see it again in the near future!
