This movie gets a slow start, but once moving, takes a surprising turn if you've never read the Stephen King story. I had read the story, so I knew what was coming, but I enjoyed Christian Slater as the villain. However, Wes Bentley was all blank, unblinking looks for the first half of the film. His character has no personality until mid-way through. An OK movie when you've watched everythng else new that has come out.

I had read the short story so knew the plot before hand. I enjoyed the written work, but the movie could have been more in depth. There was something superficial about the whole thing, reminded me of a bizarre after school made-for-TV movie for some reason. It was still a good story and I would recommend you watch it.

This is a merely adequate thriller-type revenge movie. The plot twists work about as well as can be expected. However, the audience is supposed to hate Christian Slater, but his portrayal of the movie's arch villain is more comical than menacing. I also found Wes Bentley's performance to be mostly cartoonish, with lots of glowering, seething and blank stares. Not a "must see," but not unwatchable.
