Only thing wrong the subtitles ; The story line kept me intrigued, it's the type of movie you don't walk away from. It kept me intrigued as much as silence of the lambs did, but this is in french. Acting was great and only drawback to you whiners would be it's in french with english subtitiles.
There's a point in this movie where someone pulls out a copy of 'The Silence of the Lambs' and the similarities and influence of that movie becomes evident. Like that movie, this is a superb serial killer /crime thriller that could easily be put into the Horror section. There are enough twists, turns, and a unique 'villian' to make this very interesting and different from others in this genre. At times the movie feels like it is getting more convoluted and going nowhere, but stick with it as the ending ties everything together beautifully.
The director must have planned that when the viewer starts putting the pieces to the puzzles together that they will feel very victorious and say "yeah, that's what's going on"
because he carefully crafts his story to give you enticing little pieces of information that you must retain so that you can start adding them all up. But...what is he really showing you? Are you and the director working towards the same goal?
Several twists are so unexpected. There is a lot of death in this movie... not violent blood spurting deaths, but quiet, sad death that extracts a gasp or two from the viewer. Stunning, confusing, not perfect, but definitely worth the time.
