The frozen space in a little girl's heart gradually begins to warm thanks to the love of her older sister in director So Yong Kim's portrait of a young innocent forced to come to terms with feelings of loss and abandonment. Six-year-old Jin (Hee Yeon Kim) and her younger sister, Bin (Song Hee Kim), live in a cramped apartment with their single mother. Though their lives are on the edge of disaster, both girls remain completely oblivious to the threats of the outside world. One morning, after Jin wets the bed, their mother packs up all their belongings and sends the girls to live with their alcoholic Big Aunt (Kim Mi-hyang). Suddenly thrust into a hostile and unfamiliar environment, the girls are given a piggy bank and a promise that their mother will return when it's finally been filled. Wrestling with feelings of abandonment despite the fact that she's not mature enough to understand why their mother has left or what may become of her and Bin in the future, Jin showers her younger sibling with affection in order to prevent her from feeling as if all hope has been lost. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A very sweet, moving movie. The performances of the little girls are amazingly authentic as are the depictions of the different living conditions they experience. Reminds the viewer of the vulnerability of children who are dependent on adults to care for them. Loved the grandmother!

I could not hear the movie due to director comments that over spoke the movie lines for some reason . I could not watch the movie . I had to mute vocals although in English and read subtitles in English . After about twenty minutes of my time wasted . I just ejected it

This is a story about two young sisters who pass from their deadbeat mother, to a dirt bag sister-in-law and finally to their grandparents. Although it's definitely "G" rated, it's not a story a mom and daughter would watch together. As for an older crowd, little happens in the movie and the ending is likely to elicit a "That's it ?!" response. On a positive note, characters came across as genuine even though most weren't played by experienced actors. The director commentary is actually more interesting than the film. Despite the 5.1 audio option, the sound came across as stereo. As for extras, there's a trailer for the movie, a "Deleted Scenes" option (4:43 min), an "Outtakes" option (2:47 min), an "Interview with Hee Yeon Kim and Song Hee Kim, June 2009" featurette (6:30 min), a "Post Screening Q&A at New York's Film Forum, April 2009" featurette (13:24 min), a "Commentary with So Yong Kim and Bradley Rust Gray" and trailers for eleven other movies. Lightly recommended.
