One of the few episodes in which The Doctor cannot save everyone. A handful of companions have died as they traveled with The Doctor and it was Adric's turn this time. As you look closely as he is keying in the final sequence to disarm the Cyber-bomb, you will see him recoil in advance of the F/X explosion caused the dying Cyberman. At least Adric faced his death with courage. Was the silent credit sequence with the camera on his shattered gold math award warranted?

This episode was the result of several factors, the biggest of which was that the Doctor simply had too many companions and the problems that meant can be seen in episodes leading up to this one. The director and writer, I might add, did his best to make this story work, and while I think he succeeded, the ending could have been better done. It almost could have used one more episode to tie up all the loose ends, but I understand the situation they were in and the problems they faced. Still a great episode, wonderful to see the Cybermen, again.

Very good classic episodes of Doctor Who. The Doctor and companions are on a space ship that is bound for earth. They try to stop the space ship because of the cybermen. In this episode of the companions is sacrificed.
