A well constructed and wonderfully performed short film on real life of contemporary urban dwellers. Let's get the cons out of the way first: Advertising hype. Too Short. A little jumpy -- I think because of the short duration allowed for the film. Pros: Quirky, Funny, "Real". Bubble-Rama is based on a wonderful short story by Elizabeth Crane. This is definitely a character study, not a plot-driven piece. Once you realize that, the jarring cuts and non-linear feel of the movie stops being a distraction and actually starts to enhance your relationship with the characters. Both Annie Parisse and Ed Kerr succeed in getting you involved as an intimate observer. The feelings for and about the characters were what made me fall for this film. If you want a complex, multi-layered storyline, look elsewhere. But if you want a complex, multi-layered character study, I very much recommend this fun short film.
