Astrid Varnay plays the eponymous title character, the daughter of Clytemnestra (Leonie Rysanek). When Clytemnestramurders her husband Agamemnon (Rolf Boysen), with the conspiration of her lover, Aegistheus (Hans Beirer), and Elektra learns of it, hell hath no fury.
