It was amazing to see the genius of the handful of animators chosen for this story. All six effortlessly capture the essence of Batman in their own unique way. Each chapter had me wondering how the next interpretation of Batman would manifest itself on-screen. As an animation experiment, it was magnificent. I call this work the Animatrix of the Batman universe.

This Batman movie was interesting, especially the first story told by the perspective of four adolescent skateboarders. They witnessed Batman in action, and he was wounded. Similarly, our Gotham Knight was shot in a later story! Somewhat violent, but overall an interesting project. I would have recommended a 5 if not for the Cross-fire Story, which I found somewhat cliche.

Definitely loved this just for the pure simple fact that it was really about what the quintessential comic book is suppsed to be about: Rough and tumble urban kids gathering and trying to scare the Hell out of each other or impress friends with totally false encounters/stories of their most personally revered urban myth hero. I particularly loved the retelling of of Batman as a shadow, the character design and dynamic nature of animation was the clincher for me for the DVD.
