In the Persian Empire in 475 B.C., Emperor Xerxes I (Ann Murray) and his brother Arsamenes (Christopher Robson) are both in love with Romilda (Valerie Masterson), while she and her sister Atalanta (Lesley Garrett) are both in love with Arsamene.
