The opening moments of 'The Swimming Pool' have imagery that makes me feel like I am poolside, but this film takes a dramatic turn in the latter third. 'Diabolically Yours' is a delicious thriller where you immediately know something is afoot, and the 'Widow Couderc' is a smoldering mess of adult emotion. In 'The Gypsy' Delon is a coldly calculating thief who also has a charming and lovable side. For me, the only difficult film was 'Our Story,' in which a man and woman in crisis act out their lives as a story, each mapping out a surreal future for their "characters" and negotiating each new day. If you are NOT an Alain Delon fan, you will be, as he shows the vast array of characters his 60's cool can accommodate.
