Having left his home town in disgrace after a tragic accident, jaded land developer Blake Cameron (Lee Tergesen) returns to face his former friends and loved ones. But this is not a social call: Blake's bosses have purchased the most of property fronting Lake Paradise, a rancid body of water which has been "dead" for years, and Blake has arrived to find out why one of the locals has refused to sell. The sole holdout turns out to be Monica (Roma Downey), whose Heavenly assignment on this occasion is not only to revitalize Lake Paradise, but also restore Blake's faith in God.
