this is a great story about a young man who comes to alaska to take over his father's claim during the gold rush earlier in the 20th century. i have never read the novel by jack london so i do not know how faithful it is to the book. the cscenery is exquisite and the acting is superb. ethan hawke, klaus brandauer and james remar all do a fantastic job. it's really a love story about this young man who has no one and a half-dog/half-wolf he befriends. well worth watching. 4-5 curse words and that's all.

Solid, rugged entertainment. Jack London would be proud. I know we're not supposed to comment on other reviewers--but "William R." needs to lay off of the wild mushrooms, know whut ah mean?
