Forster's tale of forbidden love and scripted by Pride and Prejudice scribe Andrew Davies, director Nicholas Renton's playful period drama follows young Lucy Honeychurch as she takes a trip to Italy and exchanges a brief albeit life-altering kiss with the unsuitable George Emerson. i was enjoying this movie up till the very end! they rushed towards the happily ever after in a very odd way and than as if that wasn't horrible enough, andrew davies goes on and changes the very end to deflate everyone's romantic hopes for this couple, and it was so unnecessary that he did this!.........why? totally ruined the movie for me!!!

A decent movie in its own right, but an absolute Disaster and Puzzlement for anyone who has seen the Merchant-Ivory version (1986).. The Puzzlement being: WHO-- among those who decided to make this movie-- actually thought he/she had something more/better to portray than that earlier version?...and WHAT does he/she think it accomplished?

No where near as interesting as the Merchant Ivory version. The story seemed choppy, characters were not interesting and it just sort of ended in the middle of a sentence. Nothing original. Can't see why they made it. Disappointment.
