The untold story of the Battlestar Pegasus comes to the screen in this special, two-hour episode of Battlestar Galactica detailing the transformation of Major Kendra Shaw into a fearless tool of war known as a "razor." As the Cylons prepare to launch a genocidal attack on the Twelve Colonies, Major Kendra Shaw (Stephanie Jacobsen) arrives on the Battleship Pegasus reporting for duty. In the aftermath of the devastating attack, Major Shaw is trained by Admiral Helena Cain to employ suicidal fighting tactics and commit atrocious war crimes against her own people. Any sense of hesitation or doubt is methodically stripped away from Major Shaw, rendering her a living weapon driven by murderous instinct. But such a weapon can ultimately do as much damage as it does good, and it isn't long before this severe form of warfare takes a heavy psychological tool on the tormented Major Shaw. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Battlestar Galactica: Razor shows what happened on BSG Pegasus during the initial Cylon attack and how the Pegasus survived to go down a different idealogical road than the Galactica. Clues to season 4 are also given on how the Cylons divided amongst themselves and how that may have some bearing on the "five" , a question is raised about Starbuck and what her real calling may be... Season 3 left out a big gap of interesting events that weren't shown due to time constraints. This mini-series fixes that... Like the first Miniseries Razor is very intense and left me feeling I wanted more. The great acting from unknowns who are better than 90% of the established actors out there is once again present. If you're a BSG fan you must see it! The plot was very enjoyable to watch and it filled in great with the rest of the series. If you are not a BSG fan add the series to your Queue and give it a shot.

I will say this... I had a lot of fun watching this feature. It has rich characters and moves pretty fast. The dilemmas the characters find themselves in are controversial to say the least. However, as this episode fills in holes from previous seasons, there are some problems with the characterizations of some players. Nevertheless, it is a good television drama, but little more than that.

Razor was well put together, considering they had to creatively determine how to fit enough of the Pegasus story into a 2-hour spot to give us enough of a glimpse into what went on with Admiral Cain, why she's the wacky woman she is, and why she seemed to have something personal against the Six they had on board (ref season 2.5). Oh, and I don't know how, but I really had the hots for Admiral Cain after seeing the treadmill scene at the beginning. I know, I'm a freak. Now, if only they explained how it was that Lee gained so much weight before season 3! A great show... can't wait for season 4!
