A medical student with mounting debts draws on her formidable poker skills in order to stay afloat in this gambling drama starring Dominique Swain and Michael Madsen. As a young girl, Alicia "Ace" Anderson (Swain) frequently accompanied her card shark father (Madsen) to clandestine gambling rooms for tense rounds of Texas Hold 'Em. As a result of her childhood spent watching her father fleece his opponents, Alicia became a fairly exceptional card player herself. These days Alicia has left behind the world of gambling in order to focus on medical school, but education doesn't come cheap and the tuition fees are fast piling up. Of course the one way that Alicia knows how to make a quick buck is to fall back on her old skills, and now with a bottomed out bank account and few options on the table the savvy student gambler enlists the aid of some fellow students in hitting it big at the local casino. Though her cohorts may be well schooled in the art of the bluff, this team will need much more than a good poker face if they truly intend to win out over some of the world's best card players. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This movie was a "take off" , "exact copy" of the movie "LUCKY YOU". Except with a few differences. One,No love story. Two it is about daughter -father relationship instead of Father- son. Other than that --nothing original. It was mildly entertaining movie about poker playing and how the young girl beats all the experienced old timers. If you happen to miss this movie you will not have missed that much, especially if you have seen "lucky you".I you havent seen "lucky you" or enjoyed "lucky you" so much that you want to see another poker playing movie with a twist-then check this out-but keep in mind There is nothing earthshakingly original here. This movie rates two-and a half stars at the highest. So it is NOT a "must see" movie at all. This is a family film with no profanity, no nudity.

This is one of the worst movies ever! The acting is horrible! Do not rent this movie no matter how much you love Louis Gossett!

Even if you could get past the horrible acting, this movie is clearly geared towards poker fans and is trying to jump on the poker popularity bandwagon. There are a couple of cameos by Juanda and Sidel. The should have consulted them while on set about "poker lingo". At one point the tournament director anounces that blinds are 10 and 15, hmmmm interesting. The best line of the movie which couldn't have been purposefully written to be any funnier was when the daughter of a poker shark was heads up with her dad and said to him,"I'm gonna take you all in!"
