Synopsis of Down By the River

Writer/director Henry Bean adapts author Charles Bowden's 2004 novel investigating the proliferation of drug trafficking on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. The year is 1995, and there has been a murder in El Paso. While the authorities at first think the murder was the result of a botched carjacking, they soon realize that the victim's brother has been busting local drug runners for the D.E.A. Later, as the investigation heats up, mounting evidence begins to implicate those in the upper echelons of the Mexican government. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
