Adapted from the novel by author Kei Oishi, Ataru Oikawa's Apartment 1303 explores the horrific case of a purportedly haunted apartment. In the middle of the party, however, Sayaka begins acting very strangely and lunges over the balcony to her death. When Sayaka's sister Mariko decides to investigate, she discovers that her sibling wasn't the first to take a fatal plunge from that particular apartment. Though Mariko is by no means superstitious, she's about to come into contact with a force more evil and powerful than she could ever imagine. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I am a fan of Japanese horror so I liked this movie. You have to be aware that it has subtitles and is really a different horror style than American movies. Some one said that it is just a knock off of the "grudge" but I disagree, this is more or less the way they make their movies. We Americans have our "formula" and they have theirs. I think it is really neat to watch, and you also get a glimpse into the Japanese culture. Maybe that is why I like them so much. What scares them is different than what we are used to and the endings are off a little bit,(at least I think so). One Missed Call is a very good example of this same style. I had to watch that one a couple of times to get it. Give them a try!

the acting was so-so, but it did have a few jumpy moments to it. this was the first foreign horror movie I have seen and although the storyline was a little far-fetched, it does leave you with a creepy feeling. it's rentable, but not a must see.

The premise had a lot of potential, but as the ending played out, the potential wasn't achieved. This is another attempt to overuse the dead, black haired girl that peers through her bangs theme. At least the atmosphere of the apartment was somewhat spooky. The level of acting ability was what you would expect from young actors in a horror movie - amateurish. The picture quality was very good. The DTS audio option provided great sound and made good use of surround sound. As for extras, there's a "Photo Gallery", a trailer for the movie and trailers for six other Tartan movies. Recommended only for those who have to see the latest Asian horror film.
