I remember watching this movie over and over again in the 80s as a kid with my brothers. For nostalgia's sake, I rented this to watch with my 9 year old nephew and we loved it. I was surprised that I remembered the words to all of the songs. I let him take it home and he watched it a few times more, his mom said, even singing the songs. Lots of fun. Where are these types of movies now? Does eerything have to be a cartoon? Movie adaptations of literary classics have a benchmark in this movie.

I remember when I was a small child, my parents taking me to see this movie in a small, one auditorium theatre in Englewood, in Independence, MO. About 20 years ago, I think, I found it on VHS and had to buy it. When I watch this movie, it takes me back in time to my own childhood. No child should miss the opportunity to see this timeless classic. It has an excellent cast rounded off by Johnny Whittaker as Tom Sawyer, a fabulous young actor for his time and veteran actress Celeste Holm is not to be forgotten. A timeless classic indeed, don't let your children miss out on this ultimate family favorite!
