I didn't know it was a story telling theatrical feature about the director Lindsey Anderson. Also, I didn't watch the movies called "If, O Lucky Man" and "This Sporting Life".

As an admirer of Malcolm McDowell's early films ("Caligula" excepted) and an admirer of director Lindsay Anderson's work, I found "Never Apologize" offered great stories and insight into their work. However, I can't imagine anyone not intimately acquianted with "If" and "O Lucky Man!" having much interest in it or being able to follow it, however. Casual filmgoers are also likely to be put off by the film's mix of performance, lecture and personal appearance. McDowell spins some great stories about the making of the films and the coterie of '70s and '80s English actors involved, though, and I am grateful to the B'buster making the film available.
