His head filled with the words of dad Jason (Alan Thicke) , who has been pontificating on the virtues of "giving" rather than receiving, Ben (Jeremy Miller) invites a stranger to spend Christmas with the Seavers. That stranger happens to be Denise (Hallie Todd), a scruffy street kid whom Ben found foraging through garbage cans for food.
