This contains 3 movies: The Road to Yesterday, The Volga Boatmen (both directed by DeMille), & Miss Lulu Bett (directed by brother William). I'd previously seen the latter on an Image Entertainment edition & prefer it to this one, unfortunately ruined by the SAME score used on 'Road...'! 'Road...' is a reincarnation-type story with Christian overtones & a train crash DeMille likely didn't equal again until The Greatest Show on Earth! Each protagonist suffers from inner pain or is torn in love, related to them having met in past lives. Print quality is poor; the score often inappropriate; the plot semi-interesting. Volga is set during the Russian Revolution & surprisingly doesn't take sides. Peasant meets princess, love ensues; their roles reverse during the revolt. Romance & love overcome all, but it all fell flat & I often skipped entire tracks. Seek out Miss Lulu Bett on the Image release. This is strictly for silent and/or DeMille fans.
