International film star Russell Crowe narrates writer/director Sunny Abberton's documentary examination of the infamous Sydney surfer gang that made headlines in the mid-'90s for a string of violent turf wars, drunken rumbles, and confrontations with the local authorities. A poor suburb of Sydney, Maroubra would become a key component in Sydney beach culture in the few years before the millennial changeover. Though the gang was praised by some locals for their efforts in rescuing kids whose lives seemed doomed for disaster, things soon took a tragic turn when members Jai and Koby were accused of murder and placed on trial in a local court. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Give this documentary a shot. I thought it was great the whole way through. Great surf footage and street fight scenes.. It held my interest the whole time and the directions it takes you through the story is great. Highly recommend.

I liked this film, but one wonders how objective a documentary can be that is directed and written by one of the subjects of the film (Sunny Abberton). Because of this, there's no way to know if the events really happened the way they are depicted or whether you're being fed someone's version of what happened.

I must admit this is THE BEST documentary I have ever seen. I am obsessed with learning all I can, and when you watch Koby Abberton surf, it is as if he is flying 90 MPH. Considering the hardscrabble fend for yourself lives these boys grew up in, it is amazing they have such a strong value system. I hope they come out with a Special Director's cut with and extra disc of extra features. These are the most fearless, daring, interesting men on the planet! And God Bless Ma! SEE IT NOW!!!!!!!!
