Pros: 1)The intro of a non-desi character (Charlie) to play a large role in a bollywood love triangle was unique, 2)Kaif played a convincing 'UK-US desi' compared to others who have played that role before. Her english was western and her hindi was not great, which worked well for her role. Cons: 1) "Parents force NRI to marry pure Desi" story should be retired because it has been done to death. 2) Terrible plot, ever- changing without explanation and one does not get a chance to really know and identify with characters. 3)Unrealistic generalization - all Desi characters were so loveable, all English characters were rich snobs (movie is set in England 2007, not India 1947). 4)Songs were 3rd rate all 'synthesized'. 5)Akshay is 15+ years too old to play a guy in his 20s and the character was not believable - fixes car without looking, modern mahatma ready to love/forgive, a guru on the etymology of English from Sanskrit, and they never once say what he did for a living.
