A man with the ability to see into the past sets out to solve a dark mystery that has haunted his family bloodline for three decades in director Bennett Davlin's time-shifting thriller. Dr. Taylor Biggs (Billy Zane) has accidentally ingested a hallucinogenic powder that allows him to experience his ancestor's most vivid memories, and now he is seeing images of a nightmarish predator who abducts and murders young girls. As Dr. Biggs begins to realize that these memories come from a time before he was even born, his suspicions that the killer may in fact be the father he never knew continue to grow stronger with each passing day. Though his mother is still alive, her fading memory has grown increasingly foggy and clouded with the passing of time. With the horrifying final moments in each victim's life consuming his every waking thought, Dr. Biggs sets out to unravel the secrets of his past and unmask a killer who appeared to have, in life, gotten away with murder. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

I have attention deficit disorder or something with most movies/shows over 1 hour, but I watched this one straight through, except for when I had to pick my son up from school. I got some of the clues and missed others, which is rare and fun since I usually get the idea too soon and lose interest. The company that makes this film says they are an alternative movie company, and usually I dislike the idea of calling yourself alternative. Like alternative music, my alternative to music is a book. But this was an intelligent, entertaining movie, without overdoing it to be snooty clever, and without cheap dumb garbage. I did not feel the surprises were too unrealistic or contrary to the whole setup until the reveal, as many movies do. I hate when the movie sets up a character or theme and then drops an opposite surprise out of nowhere. This movie was a lot better than many big name big budget things I have seen.

The premise of this move was decent and overall was fairly entertaining. That being said, it is a very stereotypical psychological twist fest. The only reason that you are surprised by any of is because they rarely give you enough information to figure anything out. This movie is riddled with plot holes, and only vaguely tries to explain them; more often just changing topics spontaneously. Overall, the acting was decent (even if they try to butch Billy up by having him awkwardly cursing all the time), but the "surprises" were a little over-done. Like most murder mysteries, it leaves you wondering why the main character isn't being hauled off in handcuffs at the end.
