As glasses are raised for a New Year's Eve toast, the denizens of the city of Terminus fall prey to a mysterious transmission that pulses through all electronic devices and transforms rational, sane people into murderous, rampaging psychopaths. All forms of communication have been jammed, and now the airwaves have been saturated with an ominous signal that preys on fear and deep-rooted desire. Though Terminus was once a city defined by conformity, any semblance of order in this concrete jungle has now been replaced with screaming, bloody chaos. Fortunately, Ben has managed to avoid having his brain scrambled by the signal, and now he's determined to make his way through the bedlam that's sweeping the streets and rescue the woman he loves. It's not going to be an easy task, though, and in order to sweep his love to safety, Ben will first have to face off against her rabid husband. In a city where everyone seems to have lost their mind, the only way Ben will be able to determine who he can trust and who has given in to their bloodlust is to find out the true origins of this ominous broadcast. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The concept of the movie was good and the camera shots gave it a realistic feel the viewers can enjoy. The Special Features showing how "the signal" affected others in stores, highway and TV studio, as well as the short film were better than the movie. The mixture of terror, humor and hope was a good mix, but nothing to brag about.

This film did what it was supposed to do: creep the hell out of me. The film has quirks....and, I suppose, that is one of the main reasons why certain film goers won't appreciate it. But it has the sort of weirdness of a "Twilight Zone" episode....turned up to 11. It reminds me of another quirky, but great, horror film that came out in the early 80's: "Dead and Buried". "The Signal" was filmed in about 13 days with a shoe-string budget of $50,000. To make this kind of movie with those kinds of constraints is, in itself, a marvel....because it doesn't feel like a "budget" horror film. This especially true, if you take into consideration big budget "studio" horror films that are replete with cheap gimmicks that pander to mainstream audiences, yet utterly fail to "horrify"....excepting the "horror" of having wasted one's time and money. If you're a fan of David Cronenberg, John Carpenter, George Romero and/or Don Coscarelli, then you will probably like this movie.

This movie was ridiculous. The previews were misleading. I laughed throughout the movie because of the meaningless and crappy story. Acting was good though but the movie just didn't make any sense... It's like telling a story and saying: "There's a signal that makes people irrational and delusional. The end..."
