Strait-Jacket (1964)
Member Rating:
In this chilling blood-tale in "Psycho" style, Robert Bloch modernizes the Lizzy Borden story. A wife (Joan Crawford) literally axes her cheating husband and his lover, witnessed by her three-year-old daughter. Mom is packed off to the insane asylum for 20 years before reuniting with the daughter (Diane Baker). From this point, the axe murders continue along a contrived plot intended to lead the audience astray until the mystery is solved. Crawford's strong performance and the excellently constructed suspense are the best elements of the film -- and the chopping saves the show when the plot tends to slow. ~ Lucinda Ramsey, Rovi

Joan Crawford always leaves an impression on you. I listened to the Special Features talking about the making of Strait Jacket. As shown in the movie, she had total controll of the making of this making. Her strong personality shines through even in a movie that was not one of her best. I was shock to find out that was Lee Majors playing her husband. Joan and her Pepsi and being able to bring in one of the business partners from Pepsi was priceless. See this movie. I saw it when I was a kid and still enjoyed it. Although a little funny now, but scary then.

Oh so wonderful! Joan Crawford tried to look sexy, but those trademark eyebrows! OUTRAGEOUS! The most entertaining part is when she lights her match on a record, stopping the music as she lights up her cigarette! PRICELESS Joan moment! She's getting older in this movie, and the acting is not great, but just her glares and the subtle Ms.Crawford references are worth the rental. Note the PEPSI COLA on the counter in a kitchen scene..."The KING AND QUEEN OF PEPSI!"

I love Joan Crawford. This movie is fun and kind of creepy. The end is what makes this movie so good!
