I was taken with this movie. I knew nothing about the past hostilities between Japan and China and I don't generally watch war movies, but the subject of this was more about the beautiful boys in the orphanage and how the English journalist was taken with them also. The scenery was spectacular in some of the scenes.

What an incredible film - beautiful scenery and realistic war situations. Very well-acted by all - especially Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Enjoyed the clips at the end from some of the now grown-up orphans.
