I'm a big fan of David Lynch's films, so I was really disappointed with this video. These are amaturish, home movies. Many of the films are a single shot that last 10 minutes or more. You get to spend half an hour watching David make a lamp and 20 minutes of him on his boat.
This was a total waste of time.
This is a boring collection of 7 short film experiments with bonus Q&A. The only people that could possibly be interested in this are film students. "The Darkened Room" is a long drawn-out film short about cabin fever and running eyeliner. "Boat" is a dumb skit that experiments with low-grade over-exposed film. "Lamp" is a study in Fix-It-All. "Out Yonder-Neighbor Boy" is yet another forgettable beez beezin episode. "Industrial Soundscape" studies the combination of animation, sound and light and is at least 3 times too long. "Bug Crawls" is more simplistic than it sounds and is almost short enough. "Intervalometer Experiments" is a time-lapse study of sunlight movement and the surprising film effects that occur when it grows dark.
Under-apperciated genius....these are short films...they aren't supposed to have a true plot. Short films are an expression of emotions and visual beauty...Lynch def gets that in his short films...if ur not a good Lynch fan, don't get it...but its worth seeing for any fan of his work
