A young boy whose remarkable, almost supernatural capacity for learning prompts his parents to anticipate a brilliant future as a pianist rebels to take his fate into his own hands in director Fredi M. Murer's contemplative family drama. By kindergarten Vitus is reading encyclopedias, and by age five he is a piano prodigy. Despite the fact that his parents do their best to nurture the young boy's natural talent for music, Vitus seems strangely disinterested in refining his exceptional talents on the ivory. In fact, the only place where Vitus seems to be in his element is in his eccentric grandfather's cluttered workshop. Now, as the young boy begins to display a keen interest in aviation, one fateful leap will set his entire future into motion, and offer a compelling preview of things to come. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is not your typical prodigy movie. Vitus is an extremely gifted pianist plus a genius academically. As he grows up, it is hard to find a place for him in typical schools. His parents don’t want him in a “special” school and he doesn’t fit in the system. His great wish is to be normal and he becomes that thru a cleaver rouse. Vitus has friends now but his best friend remains his grandfather. Money is a problem for his grandfather. While discussing this, Vitus learns that the company where his inventor father works is in financial trouble. Vitus uses his genius to settle everything. The actors are great, the direction keeps the story moving, and the writer put a lot of life lessons in this film without becoming tedious. This is a great film for adults and children.

I wasn't sure if I should give this movie a chance and am sure glad I did. Great movie that you can't really predict the ending even though it seems evident. The film really drew you into the characters. Worth watching.

Child prodigy, classical music, a story about a gifted boy who just wants to be "normal" and just wanting to live his life and do it his way. Do not let subtitles turn you away from a good movie, a joy to watch.
