Frustrated by the lack of progress and apparent indifference of the authorities, Magnum (Tom Selleck) conducts his own investigation of the murder of his friend, a former surfing champ. While the leading suspects are a troubled Vietnam veteran (Wings Hauser) and a notorious (and notoriously elusive) drug pusher, Magnum comes to the conclusion that a third party is the true culprit.
