They don't hit you over the head with the background at the start of the movie. You have to figure out how things got the way they are as the story unfolds. The animation is great. I'm not sure what to compare it too. The story is dark and brooding and somewhat complex. I found the characters to be very intriguing. But the story seems to be taking a long time to make its point. After watching the first 2 dvds I'm still not quite sure as to where it's going. The whole story reminds me of "Blade Runner", but somewhat darker. By the way, I enjoyed the music too.

This review is for the first disc. Again, I think people will either love or hate this show. This show has great art, a intriguing storyline, and an interesting cast of characters. However, the action and dialogue move at a snails pace. This show has a dark and slow serious tone about it, similar to the director's previous show Witch Hunter Robin (which I like), but this one is much slower. I think as the story begins to unfold and the truth becomes more apparent, the show will get better. This show is kind of a mixed bag for me, I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I'm interested in finding out what happens next, but I won't be in any hurry to finish the series. I think if you enjoyed Witch Hunter Robin, you might want to check out this show.

For some reason, this show reminds me of Blade Runner. Maybe that's why I like it so much. It has a little GITS: SAC feeling, and obviously, the same feeling as Witch Hunter Robin. I'm eagerly waiting the second disc in my online queue.
