Double features are often a lot of fun. Sadly, this is not the case with Eastern Horror Vol. 1: Robo Vampire/Devil's Dynamite. The transfers for both titles were taken from low-quality video sources and look terrible: the colors look bleached out and detail is fuzzy. Robo Vampire is presented in its original scope format but the frame is rather oddly located in the upper part of the screen instead of centered. Devil's Dynamite is presented in a pan-and-scan format, which just increases the annoyance level of the experience. Both films offer Dolby stereo: the soundtracks are passable but can only do so much with each film's hastily assembled dub track. As for extras, there are none. The packaging of the set is nice, with amusingly campy cover art and animated intros to the menus on each disc, but this can't make up for the subpar quality of the features. As a result, even hardcore fans of Asian oddities will want to think twice about picking up this set. ~ Donald Guarisco, All Movie Guide
