One of Bergman's best - really nails war and its meaninglessness. Live Ullman's comments are worth listening to also, and really focus in on the nub of what it is all about.

In "Hour of the Wolf" Ingmar Bergman chronicles one man's horrifying descent into madness. Johann, an artist who lives on a remote island, meets his ghoulish neighbors who live in a chateau. Famous Bergman images fill the screen. For instance, an old woman peels off her face and removes her eyeballs. A man climbs the walls and walks on the ceiling like a spider. Stalwart Bergman actors who anchor the movie include Max von Sydow, Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson. But don't watch it at bedtime!
