In the years leading up to the moral frenzy that resulted in the creation of the restrictive Production Code Administration, filmgoers bore witness to lurid tales of passion and seduction the likes of which would not be seen for decades to follow. Thanks to the folks at Roan Group Archival Entertainment, the Pre-Code Hollywood Collection, Vol. 2 restores both King Vidor's The Bird of Paradise (1932) and George Archainbaud's The Lady Refuses to all of their uncut, uncensored glory. Digitally mastered and restored from their original source materials, both films are presented in their original 1.33:1 full-screen aspect ratios with English Dolby Digital Mono soundtracks. Though the lack of any extra features is lamentable, Roan has done a fine job in ensuring that these films survive for the enjoyment of future generations for years to come. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
