If you have any interest in British history, then this should be at the top of your queue. I've seen it three or four times and each time it just gets better. While it may be a bit heavy on the Victorian/Colonial history, it generally has a very broad range. As a European history major the disks are invaluable when I need a break from studying or just want to review a certain time period.

From the moment that the film explored a stone age fishing village, I was hooked. Interesting perspective on many ages of history. Excellent film-making.

This series of discs was a great opportunity to catch up on all those history lessons I never took at school. It presents a very real and grim picture of how Britain got to where it is today. It's really not that long ago either. It's a shame that the presenter Simon Schama uses pretentious vocabulary that's ambiguous at times and difficult to digest. It would have been so much more accessible if he'd just used plain language. I found myself hitting pause and reaching for my dictionary every few minutes. It's still worth the effort if you're curious about British history. What a shame that Blockbuster never sent me the first disc!
