Judy Garland with Tony Bennett (show #5) was the last to be headed by the great, great, great George Schlatter; he and most of the staff were fired after taping this episode - fired by CBS head Jim Aubrey, who, for reasons no one has ever understood, despised Judy. These first 5 shows were so brilliant...Schlatter's original concept of the JG Show as "a series of specials." Show #6 with Steve Lawrence is still okay, but not so special. OK...it pretty much sucks in comparison. The greatness of Judy Garland, captured so well by Schlatter, is sadly diminished in the following episodes. Still, greatness shines through throughout the series. A treasure overall.
