Hell of the Living Dead/Rats

Hell of the Living Dead/Rats ()
Member Rating:
How great of Anchor Bay to re-release both Bruno Mattei gems Rats and Hell of the Living Dead in a DVD double feature! Basically the same releases as the single-disc versions, this is now your time to collect two of the director's most shockingly shlocky flicks in one purchase. His Dawn of the Dead rip-off opus Hell of the Living Dead comes in a 1.85:1 widescreen picture enhanced for 16 x 9 TVs; while the limited Dolby Digital Mono mixes are acceptable, the Goblin score does scream for more. On the flip side of the disc, Rats comes with virtually the same specs as the one above, while both share different, all-new interviews with Mattei, along with their respectable trailers and a trailer for the inspired Italian filmmaker. The one kind of extra they don't share is the poster and still gallery on the un-rodent-infested side, which makes for a genius zombie slide show and recap of the truly juicy scenes. When first released, both single discs were already worth the buy -- but now that they're on the same disc, it's a match made in heaven. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
