"Yellow" and "Blue" are so strange. Blockbuster's synopsis doesn't begin to describe this two-part "art film", which is mostly an interior film being made by Lena's director boyfriend, starring Lena as a character also named "Lena" and the director playing himself. However, it is often difficult to tell which parts are the interior film and which parts are the actual film representing "real life". Much of the start of "Yellow" is taken up by Lena asking the same boring, socialist question over and over of passersby for the interior film. While one particular sex scene in "Yellow" received a lot of attention in the 1960s, this is really a case of much ado about nothing. "Blue" does eliminate some of the confusions of "Yellow" and is a trifle more interesting, but not by much. Of course, this being a Swedish film, there is a fair amount of matter-of-fact, total nudity (yawn) by ordinary people. I found it hard to stay awake through either version. And it is not at all erotic.

This film does not warrant watching ! Ideally, an art film should "say something." This film is a meaningless montage !

One of the worst movies we have ever seen. The storyline and premise are basic, have potential, but seem to repeat throughout the movie in circular fashion without provoking much thought or conclusion. We tried both discs and lost interest and fell asleep each time.
